I Can't Tell You
Or, "if there's one good use for Reddit..."
In the sea of modern streaming service disputes and exclusives
Finding what you want to see is proving quite elusive
Fully made movies and shows dumped for writeoffs on taxes
And perfectly good stories meeting executives' axes
But what if I told you there's a place you could go
To see the odd new movie and your couple favorite shows
Without sixteen subscriptions that you'll pay for through the nose
Twelve bucks a month for Disney Plus? I think I'd rather choke
But I can't tell you where it is
No I can't tell you here
They say loose lips sink ships, you see
And sites can disappear
But I sure can imply it, yar-har-fiddle dee
And best of all, it's all out there for free!
In a world of crushing college debt and sky high tuition
The publisher's dreams of monopoly have all come to fruition
Releasing another edition, charging another three hundred or four
Whatcha gonna do, not buy it? It's required for your course!
But what if I told you there's a place you could go
Where you can read without restriction and learn all you need to know
A global lending library, sans due dates, holds, and fees
And no unsightly DRM, so access as you please!
But I can't tell you where it is...
In a steamy swamp of sixty-dollar games and DLCs
And launchers running spyware for ten-figure companies
Where updates bork all mod support while consoles call it crime
And no one can imagine why you'd play a game offline
Well what if I told you there's a place you could go
Where games pack down to half the size and with no Denuvo
Where emus offer simulated retro libraries
Who needs E-Shop support when you've got local binaries?
But I can't tell you where it is...
In a mud-clay mono-ecosystem 'specially audacious
One company is infamous for prices so outrageous
To keep up in the industry, just pay 1k a year!
Whoever heard of starving artists, what have they to fear?
But what if I told you there's a place where you can go
Where Adobe's been cracked open wide (okay, most artists already know)
So say hello to glowups, float on your own creative cloud nine
(Although, if you're an amateur, the FOSS stuff works just fine...)
But I can't tell you where it is...
Yar har fiddly-dee, it's out there, just you see
With simple skills and canny mind, the world is yours for free
