The Fox's Wedding - MASA WORKS DESIGN
The main translation referenced, by zcatcracker, can be found uncensored in the video subtitles. A censored version of it can also be found on the MASA Works Design Wiki (these translyrics correspond specifically to the "remake" version.)
The notes (and additional credits) for this song are kind of long, so I've put the rest down below.
Content warning for gore, cannibalism, and sexual content. It's MASA, after all~
Madam Fox, milady, oh don't take an umbrella
Come quickly and spin these torn feelings together
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Open it? Open it?
At the fox's wedding, won't you follow me together
Entwined, seeking I who has since departed
Oh, just beyond this torii, my dead and rotting body
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Hey, hey, laugh, won't you laugh, won't you laugh already?
Stop it, oh, stop it, it hurts me, please
Aaaaa... what gentle words you have for me
Leading me to such a humiliating new beginning
WAAAAAA, please it hurts I--
WAAAAAA, someone save me--
If that's what it takes to stop the pain, I'll embrace you
Hey, hey, laugh all you like, but will you skewer me?
Born in the Capital, bound up and raised
So long ago that I lost track of the days,
Being played with, humans I devoured and debased
So long ago that I lost track of the days
On my birthday, we met and I felt hunger take me
I wanna eat, wanna eat, you I wanna eat
Drew you in with a tantalizing body
And my kisses turned to nibbles turned to biting, biting
Come to me, come to me, come a little closer
Here lies my Lady and I sleep beside her
Touch me, feel your hands on my body
Excited, you writhe and try to suckle upon me
Oh, climax, pleasure, it all blends together
And my teeth take the lead and I rip you to pieces
Ears-nose-eyes and your sweet warm innards
Are tasty, tasty, oh so tasty
Now we are one and we'll always be together
I'll love you forever by the taste of your marrow
Come, come, come to the brute's rock-bottom
Star of the stage, you're tonight's dissection
At the fox's wedding, won't you hand me the umbrella
Come quickly and spin these torn feelings together
At Shikyou's gates, all the corpses for gate guards
Open it? Open it?
Madam Fox, milady, oh don't take an umbrella
Entwined, seek the road to a love long parted
Oh, just beyond this torii, my dead and rotting body
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Hey, hey, laugh all you like, will you skewer me?
Stop it, oh stop it, it hurts so good~
Everything I am, you can take it in exchange
For the dancing girl you cast aside, now stolen away, in delight
May she live for scraps forever out the back gate
"Oh, living corpse, let us bring back all that's dear!"
Shh, don't get chatty, if you're chatty then you're dead
"Cry not, your highness, your saviors are here!"
Come to me, come to me, come a little closer
Here lies my Lady and I sleep beside her
Offer you my soul in trade for your body
A fair exchange, let you put your hands on me
Oh, climax, pleasure, it all blends together
And somehow I'm getting riled up, tasting
Your stomach and your liver and your sweet warm innards
Are tasty, tasty, oh so tasty
Not much left, so I'll have to find another
To sate me, who should I devour tomorrow?
Shh, don't get chatty, if you're chatty then you're dead
Understood, Master, your wish is my command!
Madam Fox, milady, oh don't take an umbrella
Come quickly and spin these torn feelings together
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Open it? Open it?
At the Fox's Wedding, won't you follow me together
Entwined, seeking I who has since departed
Oh, just beyond this torii, my dead and rotting body
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Maggot, mosquito, I need you to bleed
Sucking bruises from your wounds as I'm feeding on your meat, oh
Love me, oh love me oh love me oh love me
Somehow it's rising inside me, the heat, I'm a
Maggot, mosquito, I need you to bleed
Sucking bruises from your wounds as I'm feeding on your meat, oh
Love me, oh love me oh love me oh love me
Why not? Forgive me or spurn me, return to me
For the last act, the decapitated dance list
Torn apart, meat and marrow, just as promised
Why so sad? Is this news to you, or did you
Fail to see you're the reason that I'm like this?
Go ahead and look upon the monster that you've made me
Hungry, hungry, oh-so-hungry
A human heart, this is the last time I'll see it
Pared out and bared to take back to my lady
A-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha
AAAAAAAA
Madam Fox, milady, oh don't take an umbrella
Come quickly and spin these torn feelings together
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Open it? Open it?
At the Fox's Wedding, won't you follow me together
Entwined, seeking I who has since departed
Oh, just beyond this torii, my dead and rotting body
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Dark as the grave, this love has us tethered
In dreams, half-awake, for our bodies in trade
As the curtain call fades, I'll embrace you, still whispering
Open it? Open it? Open it? Open it?
Madam Fox, milady, oh don't take an umbrella
Entwined, seek the road to a love long parted
Oh, just beyond this torii, my dead and rotting body
A daimyo's procession, corpses for gate guards
Notes
Oh, boy, this one was a big one. I actually started writing translyrics for this several months ago, but wildly underestimated the effort this particular song would take. Basically:
Despite the popularity of this song, there are surprisingly few actual translations available, and most of them are... suspiciously similar to one main translation by zcatcracker (the one that appears in the official MV's subtitles, and also the only one readily available that doesn't censor all the explicit erotic cannibalism bits.) Even that translation is... rough in places ("let us set off the retrieve"??)
As a result, and also because there is So Much Going On with this song, I ended up spending a lot more time examining the original lyrics, and ended up with a bit more to say about it than most previous songs I've done.
I would really like to thank the many people who have helped provide further context on the story, including the maintainers of the MASA Works DESIGN Wiki, shishikusas on Tumblr who wrote up a summary of MASA's blog, and a lovely Anonymous person who has posted (partial) translation of MASA's actual blog entries for the Fox and Demon's story up on AO3.
Entwined, seeking I who has since departed -- all the other translations (that is to say, zcatcracker and 1~2 weirdly similar others) render this line in the original as "[retrieve] I, whom they lost instead of you." However, the actual line is identical in phrasing to the "Let us retrieve the lost road to love" variation, with the only difference being the noun (私 instead of 恋路). I cannot for the life of me figure out where the "instead of you" came from, and it didn't honestly make too much sense in context, either.
out the back gate -- Rashou, in the original, would be most likely referencing Rashōmon (羅生門), the back gate of historical Kyoto (and, y'know, subject of a pretty famous film and also a traditional play...), which had a reputation for being sketchy and full of criminals, dumped corpses, etc.
"Oh, living corpse, let us bring back all that's dear!" -- I'll be honestly, I still have no idea what is happening in this line. The original version of the song had a line about a slave girl (possibly Akari??) instead; I'm not sure what this addition is meant to be.
"Cry not, your highness, your saviors are here!" -- I think this line is meant to be referencing Mai's rescue after her whole, uh, ordeal, hence the choice of plural and overall phrasing, but it's a little hard to say.
As the curtain call fades -- The original is just something like 'in the end', but I liked the theatrical touch, given the whole Beheading Dance thing and recurring performance/dance motifs around Mai and to a lesser degree Akari (ex. the 'singer was bloodstained'/'dancing girl was headless' line in Frenzied Dance; her singing skills in Himeyuri Enbukyou.)
